i love way too much to ever limit it to just nine, but i also love touhou too much to leave a cirno reference on the table, so i'm still gonna call this my ⑨thread. (lingustics oomfs are gonna have a field day with the relic there ^-^) either way, i made these with topsters and will be adding a little write up of each in the coming days !
jerome's dream – completed and number girl – omoide in my head are compilations but they're how i first got into each of those bands. honestly a lot of this chart, and my favorites in general, are defined by sentimentality. how many profound emotional memories i have listening to each, how many treasured memories i have with each. and how much i think about them;in other words, how much they interest me. but "interesting" is a qualifier that comes into play later on moreso than here. music is a very emotionally driven experience for me. for years i struggled to write about music not knowing much at all about the technicals, not even the very basics or being able to pick out many intstruments in particualr when listening. and i'm still pretty behind in that aspect, but i've realized i have a lot more to say than just what i know.
seeyouspacecowboy's "romance of affliction" for instance; when i first heard misinterpreting constellations, i swelled with love realizing people still make music that sounds like that song, so wistful and at the same time, cathartic in its intensity. and the rest of the album is just as moving, for different reasons throughout. Their lyricist (Connie Sgarbossa) is excellent.
i think my taste in games leans towards adventure, with all the JRPGs and Yume Nikki on there, plus the exploration of different routes in a VN... even SH3, survival horror is pretty "adventure-y" :) i don't think too much about platformers and stuff, i enjoy them a lot, especially the cuter ones like a hat in time, and i'd probablt consider that one along with the sonic adventure games to be some of my favorites, but not to this level. and as much as i love metroid conceptiually, stuff like metroidvanias filter themselves from my favorites with how intentionally obtuse they can feel.
